Thursday 17th February:
This afternoon, Year 3 baked their own bread.

Friday 7th January:
This afternoon, Year 3 took part in a sensory analysis session. We discussed the importance of analysing products and how we can use our senses of taste, touch, smell and sight to help us evaluate in Design and Technology. Before we started, we looked at examples from The Great British Bake off and discussed vocabulary the judges used in 'bread week'. We used some of these examples along with lots of other useful descriptive words to create a word bank for each sense, before testing a variety of breads including wholemeal pitta bread, croissants and bagels.

The children enjoyed examining each bread and deciding which words best described the texture, appearance and taste. They also gave each bread a star rating. The favourites from our class with 5 stars were the naan bread and croissants. Rye bread on the other hand didn't go down well with a poor 1 star rating. The children used vocabulary such as dry, bland and dull when analysing this particular type of bread.

Friday 3rd September- Message from Mrs Braithwaite and Mrs Laird:

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you have had a lovely summer break and your child/ren are looking forward to coming back to school.
Over the holidays, we have had to make some staffing changes and therefore would like to inform you that Year 2 will be taught by Miss Ord-Arkle and Mrs Kausar will remain as their teaching assistant. Miss Ord-Arkle was with us for most of last academic year so she will be a familiar face to the children. She is very much looking forward to meeting them on Monday and teaching them this year.

We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 6th September.

Best Wishes and God Bless.

Mrs Laird and Mrs Braithwaite
