Mrs Harkin would like to share a photograph of her Cavachon puppy Bertie. He is loving the weather and playing in the garden with the children. Have you been looking after your pets? Keeping active in the garden with them? Taking them on your daily walk? We would love to see some photographs!

Message from Miss Haydon:
Hey Year 2!
Welcome to this week's Fitness Challenge.
I am very disappointed that we can not compete in the Multi Skills Festival today and tomorrow.
Instead I have uploaded some fitness challenges for you to try to complete. See if you can beat the young lad Bobby in the video.
Click on the PPP picture to access the videos.
I might even try a few of these!
Keep safe and active

Friday 3rd April, Message from Miss Hughes:
Dear Year 2 children and families,
Today would be our last day at school for the Easter holidays so Mrs Harkin and I, and all of St Martin de Porres school, families and teachers are having an Easter holiday!
Picture
We wish you all a very Happy Easter. I hope that you can enjoy some sunshine, play, have fun and make special memories with your families. Try to keep each other smiling and be helpful at home.
Thank you for all of your fabulous work, for all of the pictures and new things that you have learnt since our school closed. You have made Mrs Harkin and myself smile. We will look forward to marking your work again after the holidays.
There will be lots more learning tasks on BGfL in two weeks time on Monday 20th April. In the meantime, there will be an Easter activity for you to complete on BGfL each day throughout the holiday, so have a look if you wish.
Take care, stay safe and have fun.
Lots of love and best wishes from Miss Hughes xxx

Friday 3rd April, Message from Mrs Harkin:
Hello Year 2 :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AHMED!
It was lovely to speak to you on the phone this morning, I hope you have a lovely day celebrating.
I know we have a few April birthdays in Year 2...
Happy Birthday Ivy for Monday!
Happy Birthday Ameerah-Maryam for the 14th!
Happy Birthday Livia for the 15th!
I hope you all have a lovely day celebrating with your families.
My little boy Ciaran is 2 on the 9th! We are going to set up our bouncy castle in the garden and play party games just the 4 of us :) We are also going to make him a Thomas the Tank birthday cake and eat lots of yummy food.
I have been busy making Easter bonnets with Oisin and Ciaran, remember the Easter competitions are still on and we would love to see your creations! Please send us any photographs of your Easter bonnet, garden or decorated egg.
Today is the last day of Spring term, thank you for all of your hard work since January. Now it is time to relax, unwind and stay safe with your families over the holidays.
Mrs Banks has shared a folder that will include a daily challenge to complete throughout the holidays. They will include cooking, craft and a scavenger hunt! The teachers will be back online in 2 weeks to see any fabulous work you might have done over the holidays.
Stay safe and keep smiling :)
Mrs Harkin

Over the months of November and December, Year 1 and Year 2 had a series of special Multi-skills PE lessons coached by Mr Steadman from Inspire Sports.

The last session, on Monday 17th December, focused on Personal Challenges.  Children had to work together to:
  • See how long they could balance a beanbag for;
  • See how many shuttle runs they could complete in a minute;
  • See how many star jumps they could complete in a minute;
They used running, sidestepping, jumping, balancing, throwing as well throughout the lesson and were completely active for the whole 1 hour of their PE lesson.
Many Thanks goes to Mr Steadman from Inspire Sports who came in to coach and teach them these lifelong skills.
