mission week

The week starting on Monday 22nd June was our Mission Week.
Our theme of the week was "Do something great with your life" - a quote from Pope John Paul II

A detailed article about this event has been published in this September's issue of Catholic Today.

There were many special visitors and events happening in school.
Each day started with a whole school assembly and, during the course of the week, each class enjoyed a healthy picnic lunch in the playground.

The children were introduced to a range of new experiences, including yoga with Yoga Bugs and meditation and peer massage with the Wellbeing Crew.
Dancing also played a large part in the week with the intervention of a teacher from Bishop Challoner Catholic College. Talented musicians like Darren Fudge (Fun Jam) were on hand to share their passion with the children.

One morning was given over to a Jobs Fair where children were given the opportunity to quiz a variety of professionals (included firefighters, legal and medical professionals and a graphic designer) about their chosen career.

Firefighters from Highgate Fire Station, Mrs Griffiths from CAFOD, the parish priest Fr Dominic Innamorati and Mrs Braggs, a school governor and former teacher spoke to the pupils and sometimes faced some challenging questions about their vocations.

The week also involved some cooking: Reception children made biscuits which they then sold for the Red Cross and three classes made healthy pizzas.
For the grand finale, the children's individual prayers were attached to helium-filled balloons for a big release.
