greetings in french

Greetings and how to introduce yourself:

Bonjour - hello (literally meaning good day)
Salut - hi (the casual way to say hello)
Bon aprés-midi - good afternoon
Bonsoir - good evening
Bonne nuit - good night
Comment ça va? How are you?
ça va bien, merci - I am fine thank you
ça ne va pas (or ça va mal) - I am not well (nothing is going right)

Comment t'appelles tu? Comment tu t'appelles? What is your name?
Je m'appelle Juliette - my name is Juliette
Now listen...

Ou habites-tu?  Where do you live?
J'habite a Moseley - I live in Moseley
J'habite en Grande Bretagne - I live in Great Britain
Listen...

Please note that if you are saying you live in a town/village you would use "à" Moseley and if you are saying you live in a country you have to use "en" Grande Bretagne.

Quel age as-tu? How old are you?
J'ai neuf (9) ans - I am nine years old
Listen...

To say your age in French you are literally saying " I have 9 years".  Just memorize the way to say it rather than try and translate it.
